Welcome to International Montessori Academy!

Now enrolling for the 2016-2017 school year. Limited space available.

At the International Montessori Academy, all children, whatever their abilities or interests, reach their full potential. All children fit in, including children with learning disabilities. Many children learn best in different ways, and the equipment is designed for this.

The benefits of a Montessori education are numerous.

  • The main goal of Montessori is to provide a stimulating, child-oriented environment that children can explore, touch, and learn without fear.
  • Each child learns at his or her own pace.
  • Teachers are understanding and encouraging, so that the child can enjoy learning, and feel happy about his or her path and purpose in life
  • Children are not expected to conform to set standards of achievement as in conventional schools.
  • Montessori schools teach independence from an early age.
  • The children take an active part in running their school, such as preparing and serving drinks for break, and putting equipment away after they have used it. Practical tasks like sweeping, polishing, making sandwiches and tying shoe laces are all available for children to learn on a daily basis.
  • In a Montessori environment children are encouraged to respect and help each other.

Montessori Inspires

"There was more fuel from Barabara Walter's interview with Google founders Page and Brin in 2004, crediting their creativity to their early Montessori education. 'We both went to Montessori school,' Page said, 'and I think that it was part of that training of not following rules and orders, and being self-motivated, questioning what's going on in the world, doing things a little bit differently." -public school montessorian, summer 2011 vol. 23, number 4

"Will Wright, inventor of best selling 'The Sims' video game series, offers similar praise. 'Montessori taught me the joy of discovery. It's all about learning on your terms, rather than a teacher explaining stuff to you. SimCity comes right our of Montessori." -public school montessorian, summer 2011 vol. 23, number 4

"According to Sims, she found that 'Montessori students proved to be significantly better prepared for elementary school in reading and math skills than the non-Montessori children. They also tested better on 'executive function,' the ability to adapt to changing and more complex problems, an indicator of future school and life success." -public school montessorian, summer 2011 vol. 23, number 4

International Montessori Mission Statement

Our mission here at IMA is to nurture and enrich the child’s intellectual, emotional, social, and physical growth. In doing so, the child gains values in which aid in promoting a just and peaceful world, foster understanding and respect for all cultures and the responsible use of our world resources. These values also aid in the development of accountability, self-motivation, and the becoming of an independent learner who will be a contributing member of society. This is accomplished through diverse experiences within a prepared environment, which follows the Montessori philosophy and method.

International Montessori Academy Philosophy

Routed from the century old Montessori philosophy, and deep respect for its principles, International Montessori Academy views each child as a unique individual and one to be respected for that uniqueness. IMA offers an environment which allows for the natural unfolding of the child and builds a foundation for lifelong learning.

Through a carefully prepared environment and curriculum, the child is exposed to a variety of experiences and materials. Each is designed to nurture the child's absorbent mind and foster his total development. IMA provides an interdisciplinary manipulative-oriented experience which facilitates independence, self-confidence, self-learning and respect. Each classroom and curriculum offers a unique meshing of learning styles which keep pace with the individual educational needs of the child in mind. IMA views the parents as primary component in the education process. We are committed to working as a partner with parents in an atmosphere of respect and concern to ensure a meaningful experience.
